The Knox family took ownership of Vacy General Store at the end of 2025 with a vision to create something far greater than just a café or country general store. Now, only six months into this journey, what has been built alongside the support of the community has exceeded anything we could have imagined.
From day one, our focus has been on creating a space that people feel connected to — a place built on energy, authenticity, creativity, and genuine country hospitality. We are a business built by the community and fuelled by the community, and every part of what Vacy General Store has become reflects the people who continue to walk through our doors and support what we are creating.
What sets us apart is that people do not just visit us for the food or coffee — they come for the experience. Customers can feel the soul in this place. They see the passion from our staff, the pride in every homemade product, the atmosphere we have created, and the genuine connection behind the counter. There is an energy here that people talk about long after they leave.
One of the biggest examples of this has been our now well-known homemade vanilla slice, which unexpectedly went viral across social media and quickly became something people travel specifically to Vacy for. What started as a homemade cabinet item became a regional talking point, bringing new customers into our small town who otherwise may never have known we existed. Since then, many of our in-house creations and weekly specials have continued building excitement online, with customers regularly asking, “What have you come up with this week?”
Our social media presence has played a major role in our growth, allowing us to showcase not only our food, but the personality, creativity, and heart behind the business. Through authentic storytelling and consistent engagement, we have built an online community that has translated into real-world impact. Customers now travel specifically to Vacy General Store after discovering us online, proving the power of creating an experience people genuinely want to be part of.
Another defining moment for the business was our decision to switch to serving Peaberry’s Coffee. It was a bold move, but one we believed in because we understand our market, our customers, and the experience people are searching for. The response from the community reinforced that understanding and further established us as a destination venue known for quality coffee and a welcoming atmosphere.
In just six months, Vacy General Store has become more than a small-town café — it has become a gathering place, a destination, and a business people feel emotionally connected to. We are incredibly proud of what has been created so far with the support of our community, and we believe this is only the beginning of what Vacy General Store can become.
